Help during lockdown

Caroline wanted to start volunteering and decided to register with VARB when the coronavirus crisis began. We referred her to Age Concern Banstead and over the past month she has been making food deliveries to grateful residents. Caroline tells us what she’s been up to:

“I work part time and had been considering volunteering opportunities since my daughter started full-time school last year.
When the Covid-19 situation arose, I registered with VARB, advising what days/hours I was available. I was quickly matched with an opportunity at Age Concern as a shopping delivery person. I did my first delivery on 3 April and hopefully will continue to do so until the restrictions are lifted for vulnerable residents in our local area. I will also look at what other volunteering is required in the long term.
It means so much to the people that I am delivering to and I am happy to be helping them and Age Concern by giving a small amount of my time.
My five-year-old daughter and I now look forward to our weekly trips.”

Thank you to everyone who has offered to volunteer to support our local community.
