Trustees around a table

Fidelity International staff join the boards of local charities

In Business Case Study by Nina Porter

Following a lunchtime information event about the Role of Trustees, staff at Fidelity International have joined the boards of two local charities.

Mark, a Business Analyst at Fidelity International has recently joined the board of Furnistore, a furniture recycling charity based in Redhill.  Mark’s experience will be helpful in developing the management of the retail arm.  Mark is also now involving his colleagues in helping the charity with social media.

Aditya, has a background in finance and regulatory compliance.  These are both skills needed on many boards and Aditya is in the process of becoming a trustee through Surrey Clubs for Young People – an umbrella organisation that recruits trustees for young organisations across Surrey.

The role of trustee is similar to that of a non executive director.  Trustees sit on the boards of charities and are responsible for the strategic management and oversight of the organisation.  Trustee roles provide the opportunity to use your skills and experience to make a big impact on a charity and help to deliver its aims.  If you are interested in local trustee vacancies see here for details.
