Over 50% of charities in Surrey report having difficulty in recruiting enough trustees with the skills they need.  Thanks to funding from Surrey County Council, Voluntary Actions across Surrey have joined together to put on this free half day workshop for charities who are finding trustee recruitment a challenge – see details below:

Finding the trustees you need to thrive

Come along to this expert boardfinder workshop to learn and implement the skills, techniques and top tips to reach and recruit the trustees you need to strengthen your organisation. Learn what makes a great trustee advert and where you should advertise. You will leave with:

  • a better idea of who is missing from your board;
  • a draft advert;
  • tips on where to find the trustees and committee members you need;
  • and a plan for trustee shortlisting, interview, appointment and induction.

The workshop will be delivered by national trustee recruitment charity, Getting on Board, and is ideal for those charity staff, trustees and volunteers leading on trustee recruitment for their organisation. You are welcome to come with someone else from your organisation.

What previous attendees have said about the workshop:

“Bright and specific. No waffle. Not too long — a morning was just right. Encouraging — inspiring, even. Stimulated me to think more widely.

Made difficult and ambitious things seem attainable. We are a small and very struggling charity, but this helped me see a way ahead.”

“It was extremely well structured, and covered the practical bases of skills auditing, thinking creatively about trustees (with attention to a variety of needs, including diversity), identifying potential sources of talent and methods of advertising, crafting a great ad and following all the way through the interview and appointment process and even the induction of trustees. I loved that we were challenged to apply the ideas to our own case right there, so that I came away with half my work done!”

Places are limited for this workshop.  Please register below or contact for further details.
