Being a charity trustee can be immensely rewarding but it also comes with responsibilities. This short course gives an overview of the different structures that charities adopt, how they are regulated and the specific responsibilities of trustees.

The course is aimed at people currently serving as trustees, who want to gain a better understanding of their responsibilities. it is also suitable for people considering taking up a trustee role.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recognise the four main structures of a charity
  • Identify the content of a governing document or constitution
  • Explain briefly the legal responsibilities and liabilities of a charity trustee
  • Describe essential compliance issues

The course is delivered by WEA in partnership with East Surrey College. It is available free of charge for people living in Tandridge, Epsom and Ewell, Reigate and Banstead and Mole Valley boroughs.
