To provide emotional support and company to people who are feeling lonely and isolated as a result of COVID-19.
You will be carefully matched with an older person who shares similar interests and hobbies
Offering emotional support, initially through telephone contact once or twice per week, moving on to face to face visits as restrictions ease
Reporting to volunteer coordinator any support needed for the person called
What skills do I need?
Good listening and communication skills.
You will need to have a confident and friendly telephone manner with a clear speaking voice
Enjoy speaking to older people and sharing life experiences
A quiet home environment to make the calls, with no one dependent on your care whilst you are making the calls
Initial commitment of at least 1 hour per week.
