Tandridge Voluntary Action (TVA) is seeking a Chair of TVA’s Trustees Board

We are seeking a committed and intuitive individual, with excellent leadership and communication skills. The TVA Chair will lead TVA at a demanding time for the voluntary sector, enabling the organisation to rise to the challenges of enabling a dynamic, sustainable local voluntary and community sector.

About TVA

Based in Tandridge District, east Surrey, TVA supports charities and community organisations in the area, facilitating positive impacts in local communities

With five staff and over 100 member organisations from the voluntary, community and faith sector, TVA recruits volunteers for local charities, provides information, advice, training and networking opportunities.

TVA is funded by Surrey County and Tandridge District Councils, and NHS Surrey Heartlands Clinical Commissioning Group. Additional funding is received from a range of grant funders.

A voluntary Board of Trustees act as Directors of TVA; a company limited by guarantee with charitable status.  The current Board of nine is a mix of long-serving and newly recruited Trustees. TVA has a strong commitment to enhance individual and community wellbeing, by supporting organisations in the voluntary, charitable and faith sector.  The Board encourages diversity among Trustees in terms of background, experience and skills.

The role of the Chair (see also Background Reading links below)

The TVA Chair is a crucial role in the charity, providing leadership to TVA and to the charity sector in the district. The Chair has prime responsibility to ensure that governance of TVA is maintained and that it complies with its strategic direction. Together with the Trustees, the Chair ensures that the Board operates within its charitable objectives, complies with Charity Commission and Companies House requirements and sets a clear strategic direction for TVA. The Chair also ensures that TVA has in place sound financial management and accountability.

There is a minimum of six Board meetings a year, together with other ad hoc meetings and engagements. The Chair and Chief Officer both act as the public face of TVA and represent it at various events and meetings with key stakeholders.

Availability Details
