Class Assistant/Addlestone (RM)
We offer weekly classes to both beginners and those who wish to refresh or improve their Braille skills. In addition, we can offer some help with 'New Seeing Skills', if appropriate, to those people who develop age-related Macular Disease. We can also assist with indoor mobility and social interaction.
Opportunities exist at our class held in The Community room at Addlestone Tesco to help and support visually impaired adults of all ages to learn new skills such as touch typing and making the best use of tablets/laptops. smartphones. This is a rewarding role, as acquiring these skills can be a huge benefit to someone who has either lost their sight or has developed sight problems. In some instances it helps people to prepare for employment or take on voluntary roles in the wider community. These is also the opportunity to learn Braille as a sighted person and progress to supporting a Braille learner yourself.
Looking Ahead class that meets in Addlestone is re-opening in January 2022
