Engagement Volunteer
We are looking for an Engagement Volunteer to support our Engagement Team one day in every 2 weeks.
The Engagement volunteer will use their own life experiences to help champion the barriers faced by people who have learning disabilities, sight loss, and/or who are autistic, so that we can help to improve things.
Your role as The Engagement Volunteer will support the Head of Engagement and his PA to help them deliver SeeAbility’s Engagement programme.
Through our Engagement programme, we aim to mentor the people we support to develop the skills to be our next generation of leaders; we provide support to attend conferences and speak about our own experiences.
Through the programme, the people we support will contribute to shape what we do as an organisation, but also campaign externally about the things that matter to them.
Admin tasks and activities for Engagement volunteer will include: writing emails; research; taking notes and minutes at meetings; following up on speakers and events, etc.
Project tasks, such as: conducting research using the internet; sharing opinions and ideas; helping to prepare presentations; supporting the associates or influencer to update the team, etc.
The Engagement volunteer will also attend and take minutes at the monthly team meetings, support associates and influencers at the meetings, and how they can have their voices heard. You will be sharing your ideas about improving the things we could do.
What skills do I need?
Proficient in Microsoft Office software, web searches and use of MS Teams and Zoom for video calls etc.
Able and willing to support people at meetings with note taking and to provide updates.
Reliable, consistent and confident and have a willingness to learn about others.
To ensure the safety of the people we support.
We require a DBS check and two satisfactory references before a volunteer role is confirmed.
As you will be volunteering directly with vulnerable individuals, you will also be required to undertake safeguarding training, as well as any training which is specific to the role.
