Independent Visitor
Do you want to make a difference to a young person's life?
Independent visitors (IVs) are adult volunteers who provide independent, one-to-one befriending support to children in care. An IV is a trusted adult from outside the care system who can offer consistent, long-term support throughout the time a young person is in care.
We ask for a commitment of at least two years, that you can visit a child at least once a month to do fun activities together, and that you can drive and have access to a vehicle. If you are interested in becoming an IV, we ask that you attend an informative Open Evening, and following a successful application, two days of training.
If you are successful in being appointed, you will be joining a committed team of volunteers who have the opportunity to meet up together on a regular basis.
We ask for a minimum of a 2 year commitment. You will need access to a car.
RECRUITMENT FOR 2022 HAS NOW FINISHED.
VOLUNTEERS FOR THE 2023 VOLUNTEERING PROGRAMME ARE NOW INVITED AND YOU WILL BE ADDED TO A WAITING LIST TO BE CONTACTED IN EARLY 2023.
What skills do I need?
The Independent Visitor must be child focused, a good listener and non judgmental.
