Interviewer (SP)
Volunteers who give advice and assistance to our clients are at the core of our service. Volunteer advisers receive full training in the skills needed to interview clients. Volunteers are supported and supervised as they begin to give advice and will get feedback and development opportunities to develop their role.
Advisers will:
- Hold face-to-face interviews with clients
- Assess client’s housing need and the suitability of our service
- Assess the risk / urgency of the client’s issue and their ability to deal with the problem themselves
- Discuss the interview with the Rentstart Manager and the options available to the client
- Identify the next step that needs to be taken
- Summarize the content of the interview for the client and explain their housing options and what happens next
- Encourage client to keep in contact
- Update the database, completing the relevant assessment screens
What skills do I need?
We do not require any specific qualifications or experience to train for the role. You will need:
- to be good at interviewing and listening
- to be able to input data accurately
- a good level of literacy and numeracy
- to be open minded and non-judgemental
- the ability to get on with people from all walks of life
- to enjoy helping people
- An understanding of private rented sector would
be beneficial but not essential as training will be given
