Music, Art and Craft Session Leaders
An opportunity to assist homeless and disadvantaged adults in East Surrey.
Renewed Hope run a daily drop in which is open to anyone over the age of 18. It particularly attracts lonely, homeless or unemployed people struggling with a range of issues. They all need a friendly face and a listening ear. It provides them with a non-judgmental environment and a community in which they can be themselves. The role below will be supported by a Drop-In Leader and a member of staff is always on site during the week.
We are looking to expand on the activities available to our guests. For these roles, we are looking for volunteers that are creative and are able to facilitate arts and crafts and/or music sessions. The aim is for our sessions to run after lunch, towards the end of our usual Drop-In hours, roughly between 2-4pm on weekdays. Eventually, we would like to have 2-3 activities running per week, but these can also be trialled out more gradually.
There is a lot of creative freedom in this role, but some examples of activities include:
Creating themed decorations for cultural events e.g. Christmas, St George's Day etc.
Producing artwork: Painting, drawing, colouring etc.
Accompanying music with percussion instruments
We can support you to source relevant materials and supplies, but anything you can provide in aid of the proposed activity would be very welcome. Many of our guests have experienced mental health issues, and we aim for any activity to be in line with our overall aims of providing a safe and supportive environment for all our guests.
