We have several roles available as part of our work to raise the profile of the Canal this also supporting increasing membership, fundraising for projects and encouraging more boats on the canal. The roles are flexible and you will be working as part of an established team. Some of the areas where we need support include:

Marketing and Communications specialist to help plan and coordinate our overall ongoing external (and internal) communications:

Working with the main trustees, this is an interest volunteer role for someone with these skills and wishing to help support our wonderful local canal.

Coordinating local newsletters/promotional messages with local press and other publications:

Working with our press officer and other volunteers, this is about organising and contacting the local press in coordinating and helping issue regular communications and articles to local papers, magazines and other outlets.

Writing articles:

Helping write articles for our Bulletin, Quarterly Newsletters and local press.

Helping put together and edit our electronic Bulletin and Quarterly Newsletter:

There is an opportunity for others to join the team and help co-edit these newsletters. On Bulletin we use Mailchimp where Mailchimp experience would be helpful (if not we can train you).

Promoting our Trip Boats:

We need someone to work with the existing team to help promote our trip boats at Odiham and Woking.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for people with excellent communication skills and 'Can Do' attitude.

Volunteering is a very important part of how the Canal is run and maintained, and really makes a difference. Not only that:

- It’s fun

- It’s a great way to meet new people

- You learn new skills

- You feel good giving back to the community

- It’s interesting to learn about the canal, nature and conservation

- It’s a great way to keep fit and active or just to get you out of the house and get some fresh air.
