Service Crew (CSVA)
Service Crew (CSVA)
Walton Firs is a charity owned and run 36 acre site which caters for youth groups of all kinds, from Scouts and Guides, schools, faith groups through to disabled and disadvantaged youth groups.
We rely heavily on volunteer support to keep the site running smoothly, and one of our most pressing needs is for Service Crew members to assist at the weekends.
The roles are varied, from general site maintenance such as fencing and painting, chainsaw work and light construction, helping to run the small on-site shop through to instructing groups on some of our activities.
Most volunteers stay over in 'the Crew Hut' for the weekend, but this is not compulsory. The teams do a lot of work, have a great deal of fun and help make Walton Firs a great venue for young people.
What skills do I need?
Building work,Carpentry,Cleaning & tidying,Teamwork,Outdoor work
Most of the tasks will require volunteers to be physically able, though some tasks could be completed by less able-bodied volunteers. Training will be given for certain tasks, though any volunteers with specific trade skills such as plumbing or electrics will be especially welcome. Volunteers will also need to be able to get to and from our site in Cobham. Access to a computer or smartphone is very advantageous, as the Service Crews communicate via social media channels predominantly.
