SH Walk Leader for Ramblers Wellbeing Walks (SH)
The Surrey Heath Ramblers Wellbeing Walks are looking for new Walk Leaders and Backmarkers to join their current team of volunteers. Walk Leaders are the beating heart of the scheme and lead regular group walks on set routes across the borough. Routes include Lightwater Country Park, Mytchett Ranges, Chobham Place Woods and plenty more.
Main tasks of leaders include taking walk registers and registering new walker and ensuring everybody is safe and has an enjoyable experience (and doesn’t get lost!).
What skills do I need?
Informal training is provided for all new Walk Leaders which consists of a half day group activity. There is no pass or fail but all Walk Leaders are expected to be friendly, inclusive and passionate about walking. Walk Leaders will need to be confident talking to individuals and directing walkers when necessary.
Cheery outlook and empathy for people of all walking levels important.
