Sport Programme Volunteer
Big Leaf Foundation provides support to displaced young people through regular projects and activities that focus on combating social isolation, building a safe and welcoming community, improving health and wellbeing and providing opportunities to learn and develop new skills. We are starting to expand our sports provision for young people, including managing and running two weekly football sessions, organising more regular sports events as well as making referrals for young people to help them access local sports clubs.
Hours: Variable depending on sports activities and volunteer availability. Regular football sessions are currently held on Thursday & Friday evenings
Location: Redhill
As a volunteer for the Sports Programme, you will support the Programme Manager in facilitating activities, supporting young people with referrals to local clubs and general administrative tasks involved in registering and documenting participants taking part in Big Leaf events
What skills do I need?
● A passion for sports and facilitating activities for young people.
● Good interpersonal, diplomacy and teamwork skills.
● Ability to use emotional support skills in a calm and responsible manner.
● Caring, supportive, helpful, with non-judgmental attitude and able to instill/maintain confidence.
● Able to work as part of a team. ● Good English skills in person, by phone, and writing are desirable.
● Good awareness of safeguarding issues. ● Enhanced DBS certification (child & adult workforce) or willingness to undertake DBS check.

Availability Details
We run 2 football sessions a week on a Thursday (Guildford) and Friday (Redhill) evening. Ideally we are looking for a volunteer to attend both sessions but can be flexible if only one is possible. There is also the option to become more involved in the day-to-day activities at BLF which can be done remotely during the working week.
