Pharmacy Deliveries
Loraine volunteered during the Covid-19 lockdown period. She was part of a team helping Reigate & Banstead Borough Council offer a prescription delivery service to local pharmacies. This was an important and efficient service to ensure vulnerable people received their medication, at a time when pharmacies were exceptionally busy.
“Iâve enjoyed my pharmacy delivery volunteering. It was great to be part of a team helping others during lockdown, and I was really happy that I was able to help out. I had registered to be a NHS responder, but they werenât able to verify my ID, so I was very pleased that the VARB application worked out.
The people I met during my volunteering were all really lovely, and I enjoyed our chats. One lady insisted on giving me ÂŁ5, which of course I was unable to accept, but I was able to donate it to Horley Foodbank, so this will benefit even more people đ.
The team I worked with at RBBC were great, doing a fab job of coordinating everything, and I would happily volunteer again in the future. I would recommend volunteering to anyone who is considering it – you can work around any other commitments you may have, and itâs really rewarding.
