Re-opening Community Centres safely

Re-opening Community Centres safely

The Government has published some general guidance for the “Safe use of Multi-purpose Community Facilities”. (Updated 11 July 2020). See here for details.

For more practical advice, ACRE’s information sheet looks at how village halls can prepare risk assessments, ensure social distancing once open and introduce effective cleaning regimes. The sheet includes practical resources such as checklists, notices for display in halls and sample terms of hire.

(Although the ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) guidance is targeted at village halls, the majority of advice is relevant for all local centres where community activities are taking place.)

If you would like to discuss any concerns about the re-opening of your hall, Surrey Community Action has a Community Building’s Advisor. Please contact Becky Stone 01483 447 135 or Nick Bragger 01483 447 102.
